About
Studio Kamio is a planting and garden design studio based in East London. At Studio Kamio we are passionate about creating sustainable and beautiful outdoor spaces.
Our approach to garden design is centred around the idea that beauty and sustainability can (and should) coexist, while making the space work for those who use it. By blending principles of “right plant, right place” and remaining sensitive to biodiversity, while selecting thoughtful plant combinations and ensuring the garden responds to our clients’ needs, we aim to create spaces that not only look stunning year-round but also contribute to a healthier and more vibrant environment.
From the initial concept to the final touches, we collaborate closely with our clients to ensure that their gardens reflect their unique vision and values. Together, we can transform any outdoor space into a thriving, sustainable, and beautiful garden.
Who are we?
Studio Kamio was established by Manna Kamio Badiella, garden designer and gardener. Having grown up in Tokyo, of mixed Japanese and Spanish heritage, Manna was immersed in the art, culture, nature and the changing seasons of Asia and Europe from an early age, informing her aesthetic palate and her deep appreciation of craft. Following fifteen years in the international development sector, a deep desire to work with plants, and to make a positive difference, however small, in response to the sustainability and climate crisis, led her to retrain in Horticulture and Garden Design at London’s Capel Manor College. Manna enjoys meeting people and hearing their stories, and loves to create gardens that make people’s lives better, because she genuinely believes that spending more time in nature will make people happier, and as a consequence, change the world for the better.
